Midnight Oil frontman Peter Garrett has announced a rare handful of pub shows in Sydney, Brisbane and Brunswick Heads this November leading up to his recently announced co-headlining slot on the Queenscliff Music Festival. Peter will be joined onstage at all shows by The Alter Egos which includes the Oil's legendary guitarist, Martin Rotsey. For this short tour the band will also feature Kram from Spiderbait (drums), Heather Shannon from The Jezebels (keyboards), Zoe Hauptmann (Missy Higgins, Neil Finn and Ian Moss) on bass plus backing vocals from Grace and May Garrett (who perform together as Raintalker). In addition to songs off Peter’s two solo albums, A Version Of Now and The True North - which both topped ARIA’s Australian Albums chart - the band will be performing the odd Midnight Oil classic as well as a few other left field choices like Peter’s enervating 2025 cover of World Party’s "God On My Side" These shows will be a rare musical outing for the renowned Australian activist who continues to make waves on behalf of the causes he has supported throughout his life. Kevin Morby announces new Australian tour dates following the release of his eighth studio album, Little Wide Open, out now via Dead Oceans. The tour will see him play full band shows at Forum Melbourne, Metro Theatre Sydney, Hotel Brunswick, Old Museum Brisbane and Town Folk Festival, presented by Handsome Tours, as well as solo dates in NSW and QLD presented by Jet Black Cat. Featuring singles ‘ Javelin ’, which was recently performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live , ‘ Die Young ’ ‘ Bandlands ’, and the final single, ‘100,000’, Little Wide Open is Kevin's most personal and vulnerable album to date. “Despite its title, this album is, in fact, very wide open,” Kevin shares. “Little Wide Open is set to a backdrop of tangled highways, towns with populations less than 100,000, roadside crosses, a rock and roll romance, coupling butterflies, being an American entertainer, Econoline vans and more,” As Pitchfork encapsulates, the album is a window into the Midwest, "the rolling plains, the tornado sirens, the Biblically big sky. As award-winning novelist Rachel Kushner writes in her essay about Little Wide Open entitled “ Field Guide to the North American Troubadour ,” “for him, the LWO is the big sky, the small lives—it’s his origins in the Midwest and every duty and modesty and familiarity and isolation: the land, the people, and the parts of that inside him.” In the summer of 2024, Aaron Dessner had asked Morby to support The National at their London show in Crystal Palace Park. Shortly after, Dessner—who was on a hot streak, having produced albums for Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, and Gracie Abrams—reached out to Morby to say he’d love to produce his next album. They began recording at Aaron’s Long Pond Studio in Stuyvesant, NY, early in 2025 and finished in September of that year. As Morby explains, “Aaron did a heroic job of holding me back fro

Join The Whitlams this October as they embark on an old-fashioned East Coast pub run. “Return to Rock Island” takes the band back to its favourite rock rooms, where if only the walls could talk about the joyful two, three and four night residencies over the decades. Long sweaty nights at these pubs formed the bedrock of The Whitlams’ reputation as a memorable force in the Australian live scene. What better way to mix things up after the elegance of the celebrated Orchestral ’26 tour, with its eight symphony orchestras, 30,000 people, and concert halls across the country. Now it’s back to the pubs where the audience is standing up close. Joining the bill for the whole tour is William Crighton with band, promoting his 4th studio album, ‘Colonial Drift’. The pioneer of Bush-Psych and a bold voice of Australian folk rock, Crighton weaves stories of land, spirit, and struggle with raw intensity. The tour opens at two pubs where the band held Sunday afternoon residencies back in 1994 - Hotel Brunswick just north of Byron Bay, and the Hoey Moey in Coffs Harbour. From there, multiple nights at The Triffid in Brisbane and The Corner Hotel in Melbourne, before a long- awaited return to Sydney’s Metro Theatre, the venue where the band filmed its live DVD performance in 2004. The set list will tend towards the high energy side of the seven album repertoire - loud, and built for a crowd with nowhere to sit. Tim Freedman is joined by stalwarts Terepai Richmond on drums and Jak Housden on guitar, with Ian Peres returning on bass and keys. "The songs splash colours across a portrait of a lonesome, inner-city suburbia that few others can match for original detail and authenticity.... The Whitlams have never sounded even mildly like anybody else." - The Newcastle Herald, 2022
