Organised since 1939, the Young Artists (Nuoret) exhibition showcases recent works by artists under the age of 35.
Over the decades, it has introduced numerous emerging artists and memorable works to the Finnish visual art scene.
This edition also reflects themes that resonate strongly today. In the works of the young artists, there is a clear need to pause and slow down.
A sense of powerlessness in the face of the world’s heavy issues emerges too – at times even taking on absurd tones – alongside critical reflection on whom society’s structures are built for.
The selection also highlights a deep engagement with materials and their ecological dimensions.
Artists featured in the exhibition:
Onni Alanko, Tomas Aphalo, Noora El Harouny, Ronya Hirsma, Erkki Huilla, Hermanni Härmälä, Elias Langi, Katya Lesiv, Sara Manninen, Frans Nybacka, Oskar Partanen, Tommi Pasanen, Iiri Poteri, Lyy Raitala, Kristo Saarikoski, Johanna Saikkonen, Mirella Salo, Inari Sandell, Emma Sarpaniemi, Irene Suosalo, Onur Tayranogly, Armi Teva, Christine Valtonen, Lu Yufan, Xiao Zhiyu, Yuije Zhou

Helsinki by Night is photographer Stefan Bremer ’s profoundly personal view of the Helsinki nightscape. With his camera, he wandered through the city, capturing both the vibrant nightlife and misty urban landscapes. Alongside poetic cityscapes, the exhibition features photos of the diverse youth cultures, subcultures and music scenes of the era. A section of the exhibition is dedicated to images taken at rock concerts, some of which were hand-colored and used as LP cover art.
Stefan Bremer (b. 1953) is a central figure in Finnish photography art. He is renowned for documenting urban nightlife – iconic works from his legendary series Helsinki by Night (1983), Creatures of the Night (1984–86), and Valokuva on Rock (1982) are also on display at Villa Hakasalmi. His images offer intimate and powerful glimpses into a time when the city’s streets, concert venues, and clubs became stages for a new generation’s self-expression.
Coinciding with the exhibition’s opening, Parvs Publishing Company will release Bremer’s Helsinki by Night photo book. The exhibition is produced by Jari Harju , Head of Audience Services at the Helsinki City Museum, and the exhibition design is by Osmo Leppälä .

Fifty years ago, punk scared decision-makers, annoyed neighbours and fired up an entire generation. From the margins arose a racket that upset the rules, smashed music and gave permission to do it all yourself, louder and faster. Today, punk culture lives on and the grassroots buzz is still active.
The norms will fall when the Punk Museum takes over Villa Hakasalmi in October 2026. The exhibition celebrating 50 years of punk in Helsinki gets in your face with sweaty gigs, tattered posters and a wall of sound that will not be silenced. The past screams, the present responds and the future calls you to take part too.

Visions of Alvar Aalto – Finlandia Exhibition: A New Experiential Journey into Aalto’s Creativity and Finnishness
Finlandia Hall’s permanent exhibition Visions of Alvar Aalto takes visitors on an inspiring journey to the sources of creativity of Alvar, Aino, and Elissa Aalto, as well as to the essence of Finnishness.
The narrative-driven exhibition tells an unprecedented story about creativity, Finnish identity, and humanity through the lives and works of the Aaltos, significant events in Finnish history, and the relationship with Finnish nature and forests.
The overall experience will provide new perspectives on the Aaltos’ achievements and their impact on Finnish architecture, design, and international networks.
Visions of Alvar Aalto brings the Aalto legacy to life as a multi-sensory experience, where light, nature, purpose, and human relationships come together. Spaces that previously served as rehearsal rooms for symphony orchestras now invite you to experience their harmony.
Sit down to admire and immerse yourself in the stories that intertwine with the creation of the Finlandia Hall and the building of Finnish identity along the way. The exhibition invites you to sense, linger, and participate.

The dance session also combines stress relief, healing, and transpersonal connection through movement.
Free of charge for the first 20 registrants.
The session is open to anyone interested in movement, music, emotional exploration, and personal growth. No dance experience is required. However, it may not be suitable for people currently experiencing severe psychological distress or conditions that could make intense sensory or emotional experiences difficult to manage. Also the session may not be suitable for people with certain physical conditions, injuries, balance difficulties, or medical limitations that could make blindfolded movement unsafe.
Content:
Lu Priace Michavila (Lucio Celomundo), DJ, electronic musician and educator, will guide a Deepdance session from 10:00 to 13:00. Created by Carol Villalón in Barcelona, Deepdance combines bodywork, blindfolded free movement, meditation, and immersive music to encourage emotional expression, creativity, self-awareness, stress release, and authentic connection.
Lu has recently completed his Deepdance training with Carol Villalón herself. During this DJ-led session, participants will dance blindfolded to deepen sensory awareness and inner focus, while one or two assistants will help maintain a safe and supportive environment throughout the experience. The music combines organic and electronic rhythms and sounds, using both slow and fast tempos throughout different stages of the Deepdance journey.
The structure of the sessions is:
• Opening: A brief introduction circle where we explain the nature of the work.
• Warm-up and bodywork focused on preparing for dance.
• Dance and music session.
• Silence and meditation.
• Integration of the experience through a sharing circle

Men främst […] syskonskap".

Millaisena 80-luvun haluaisi muistaa? Ja minkä mieluiten unohtaisi? Mitä 80-luku tuo mieleen niille, jotka eivät olleet silloin syntyneetkään?
Helsinki by Night -näyttelyn viimeisenä ilmaisperjantaina suunnataan jo katse syksyllä 2027 Hakasalmen huvilassa avautuvaan, 1980-luvun Helsingistä moniulotteisesti kertovaan näyttelyyn. Yleisö saa osallistua näyttelyn sisällön ideointiin tutustumalla valokuviin ja jakamalla niiden herättämiä ajatuksia muistelurasteilla.

Jiri Geller flirts with pop culture, provocation and artistic conventions. His works resemble flawless individual pieces lifted straight from a production line, yet behind every polished inch and coat of paint lies an enormous amount of labour, technical mastery and artistic vision.
This extensive retrospective presents works spanning Geller’s entire career, from its early steps in the late 1990s to recent developments. The exhibition features several large-scale sculptural installations, including the God Says No escalator, The Big Time tidal wave, and Battle of the Worlds, which invites visitors into a twisted game of table football. The newest works draw inspiration from the animal kingdom, all bearing Geller’s signature touch. Several mechanically operated sculptures are also included.
Geller possesses a who-gives-a-f*ck attitude and the soul of a punk rocker. He sculpts in candy colours and shades blacker than black, balancing surface and depth. His world delights and irritates, captivates and draws viewers closer, prompting reflection on questions of existence, consumer culture and craft.

Ukrainian ballet company Kyiv Classic Ballet is performing the beloved ballet performance Swan Lake at Finlandia Hall.
A classic ballet composed by Pyotr Tchaikovsky is still more than a century after its composition the world's most danced - and, according to many, the most beautiful ballet.
The Swan Lake tells the story of love and the eternal battle between light and darkness, which is symbolized by the ballet's black and white swan.
The Swan Lake contains all the rich elements of 19th century romantic ballet and is considered the pinnacle of classical dance as it is known today.
The dancers of the Kyiv Classic Ballet charm with their subtle technique, musicality and lightness of dance. Fine costumes and wonderful scenery complete the ballet enjoyment.

Life gives people the opportunity to live their lives, enjoying all its abundance. When one thinks about it more closely, life is a stunning spectacle, the monumentality of which only opens up when people stop to think about it for a moment.
At its best, life offers its best, and sometimes it also gives experiences that make people appreciate its brightest moments even more.
Everyday life or celebration – both have their charming sides and both show in time what life is made of – lights and shadows – joys and beauty – victories and losses.
Long live the charming life in all its forms!
