Housing counselors are professionals in the social sector and they help all Espoo residents who need help to solve challenges related to getting and living in an apartment. The goal of the service is, among other things, to reduce evictions and homelessness in Espoo.
A person who needs a housing counseling service can apply for the housing counseling service independently. Housing counseling is free of charge for city residents.

Grammy award-winning roots-rocker and children's music legend Dan Zanes with his wonderful jazz vocalist and music therapist wife Claudia Zanes will perform in Sello library in Espoo on their summer tour of Finland and Sweden! A warm-hearted afternoon full of acoustic family-friendly roots-folk and Haitian communal joy of life is in the air! Kids, godparents, grandmas and grandpas -come to jam together with the international superstars!
During his long career, Dan has become known as the front man of The Del Fuegos band, and even more so as a pioneer of modern American family music, touring around the world with the multicultural “Dan Zanes and the Friends”, and working with many top names such as Lou Reed, Nick Cave, Suzanne Vega, Sheryl Crown, Angelique Kidjo and Grateful Dead's Bob Weir. In addition to music, Dan is actively involved in various projects for equality and social justice.
Claudia has deep roots in the Haitian musical tradition, which gives rise to her wonderful ability to see music as a natural form of expression that belongs to everyone. This attitude makes the music flow through her freely and charmingly infectious, whether she is performing on large jazz festival stages around the world, or in hospitals or schools as a therapist.

Piracy was widespread in the early modern era. The history of the Caribbean is well known, but there were also privateers—known as corsairs—operating in the Mediterranean. Nonfiction writer Ari Saastamoinen’s *Pirates of the Barbarian Coast* transports the reader to a life filled with danger, which included raids extending as far as Iceland as well as battles against the great powers of Europe.
Ari Saastamoinen, Ph.D., is a non-fiction writer, teacher, and scholar of classical studies whose academic research has focused on runic inscriptions. He has also published works on topics such as Roman-era North Africa and the history of board games.

A Northern Sámi sing-along event for anyone interested in the language.
We’ll explore one of the timeless classics of Sámi folk music, starting by listening to a recording performed by the artist. Together, we’ll explore the Sámi lyrics and their meanings, discussing them in Finnish (and, if needed, also in English and Swedish). Finally, we’ll sing together in Northern Sámi with piano accompaniment, now understanding the lyrics.
No prior knowledge of the Sámi language is required to participate in the event. It is suitable for those who have forgotten the language, those interested in the language, and those who are simply curious, as well as for students of Sámi, lovers of the language, and those with a strong command of it.
The event is organized by the Finnish White Ribbon Association as part of the Year of Cultural Diversity. And on this specific day, August 9, which is the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples.

Photographer Tomi Hänninen has decades of experience in sports photography, and his photos of sporting events—both in Finland and around the world—have been featured in numerous media outlets and exhibitions. He has also served as the official photographer for the multi-sport event SM Week since its inception and has photographed nearly all of the 100 sports that have been featured over the years.
The “Photographer’s SM Week” exhibition features Tomi Hänninen’s favorite shots from past SM Weeks.

Madame T welcomes her guests to her surprising yet safe game den. There, the wheel of fortune spins, and each spin reveals wins and losses in different areas of life. Love, money, work, and dreams—the game encompasses the whole of life. Clowning master Taina Mäki-Iso offers interactive and gently engaging close-up clowning for only a small group at a time.
Aimed at young people (ages 12 and up) and adults. Free event for 20 audience members. Performed in Finnish and English.
Taina Mäki-Iso is a theater director, teacher, and clown. She has created numerous clown solos and performed at festivals both in Finland and abroad. The 2024 award from the Uusimaa Fund of the Finnish Cultural Foundation was presented to Taina Mäki-Iso for her sensitivity, humor, and promotion of the art of clowning.
Madame T and her wheel of fortune are part of the City of Espoo’s “Stories of the Future” Art Events.

What happens when two people try to sit on the same chair? Seat taken is playful and dynamic circus performance that explores interaction between two people about trust, disagreement, individuality and ambition – by circus means.
Internationally awarded circus performers Katerina Repponen and Pasi Nousiainen bring breathtaking pair acrobatics, physical expression and humor to the stage. The struggle about sharing space becomes a metaphor for human interaction, making the show entertaining and empathetic.
Katerina Repponen and Pasi Nousiainen is Finnish circus duo that have worked together since 2010. Kate and Pasi have captivated audiences around the world in over 25 countries, and their performances have been awarded at international circus festivals.
