Helsinki in the early 20th century. The city is growing, changing shape, and tensions between social classes are escalating. In the restless working-class neighborhoods, people gather to demand justice, while on the other side of the Pitkäsilta Bridge, they raise their glasses to the promises of a new era. Soon, society is torn in two, and the streets of the newborn nation’s capital become the stage for a far-reaching tragedy.
Missä kuljimme kerran takes the audience on a journey through the lives of individuals, families, and social classes from the days of the general strike through the civil war and into the 1930s. It reveals why Finland as a nation are where it is today and asks what will remain of the people when moral boundaries disappear. How quickly revenge and bitterness can engulf an entire generation.
At the same time, it is a tribute to the people who once walked the streets of Helsinki, the same streets people walk today. People who once loved, hoped, suffered, tried to forget, and were forgotten.
The leading roles are played by Santtu Karvonen (Eccu), Satu Tuuli Karhu (Lucie), Miiko Toiviainen (Cedi), Vil...

Huhutaan, että Viaporin rakennuttaja Augustin Ehrensvärd on jättänyt jälkeensä salaisuuden: kammion, johon on kätketty linnoituksen salattu aarre. Itse Kuningas Kustaa III on saapunut Viaporiin etsimään arvoituksellista kammiota.
Kierros vie osallistujat hauskalle aikamatkalle 1700-luvun Viaporiin.

Suomenlinnassa toteutettavalla kävelykierroksella kuullaan linnoituksen mielenkiintoisesta historiasta ja nykypäivästä.
Vuonna 1748 käynnistyivät pikkuruisen Helsingin kaupungin edustalla työt, joista alkoi Viaporin historia. Kuudelle saarelle rakennettu bastionilinnoitus palveli Ruotsin Saaristolaivaston tukikohtana, jonka tarpeisiin rakennettiin myös suuri kuivatelakka. Ruotsin ajan lopulla alkuvuosien karusta rakennustyömaasta oli jo kuoriutunut yksi tuolloisen Suomen alueen suurimpia ja vilkkaimpia asutuskeskittymiä.
Linnoituksen venäläinen kausi käynnistyi Suomen sodan aikana, aikalaisia kummastuttaneen ja kauan keskustelua ja kysymyksiä herättäneen linnoituksen antautumisen myötä vuonna 1808. Venäläinen kausi kesti 110 vuotta, ja jätti perinnöksi mm. lukuisia kasarmirakennuksia sekä linnoitussaarten lounaispuolelle rakennetut vallit pattereineen - kauppiaskorttelin marketenttien kuuluisia sukuja ja Krimin sodan kokemuksia ja tarinoita unohtamatta.

Why people believe?
Willman Dance Company, together with the Governing Body of Suomenlinna, Ballet Finland, Ehrensvärd Society and Lasistudio Hytti produces a site-specific multidisciplinary art ensemble USKO-FAITH in Suomenlinna's Levyhalli in August 2026. The ensemble includes a free glass art exhibition during the day and an immersive USKO-FAITH performance in the evenings.
The theme of the multidisciplinary art ensemble is faith, in all its contradictions. But why do people believe? Faith is treated with curious observations, critical questioning and consideration of different forms of faith.
The USKO-FAITH performance looks at faith as an event in the human mind. The audience moves from scene to scene in a huge performance space together with the performers. The performance is participatory, but the freedom for physical participation is left to the viewer.
The USKO-FAITH glass art exhibition deals with the same theme but through glass art. The exhibition was designed and implemented by glass artists and artisans Anna Shroderus and Esko Kurvinen, who works at Suomenlinna.

Frenzy is passion, emotion and necessity. The exhibition presents works in which this energy is tangible through movement, material, colour or subject matter. Frenzy is both a personal and social state: a physical, mental and cultural pulse that refuses to subside.
Frenzy stems from the idea that the fire of art does not go out, even if circumstances and external factors try to dim it. The exhibition examines the frenzy of art and artistry in a time when the funding, visibility and space of culture are under constant pressure. It is a reaction, but also a response, i.e. the desire to continue, to shout, to live and to create.
The exhibition wants to give value and highlight the fire and enthusiasm that lives in Lahti's visual artists despite the circumstances. At the same time, it also wants to critically reflect on the idea that art is created solely from the artist's own need, without resources or encouragement. Even the greatest flame can go out if too much water is poured on it. That is why bearers of the flame of art are still needed, perhaps more than ever.
Artists of exhibition: Tytti Götsch, Mika Heinonen, Eeva Honkanen, Tiina-Liisa/Tisainia, Kirsi Karppinen, Arto Kettunen, Maija Pilvikki Kimanen, Helena Lehtinen, Tiina Liinamaa, Mikko Lyytinen, Leena Niivuori, Nelli Penna, Egor Robenko & Piipa Toivonen.

Atlases of The Mariner -Historical sea charts of the Baltic Sea exhibition introduces in its first room the basics of marine charting and the history of mapping the Baltic sea.
For centuries, sailors have travelled the waters of the Baltic Sea, yet the region’s first true sea charts were not created until the late 16th century. Over the following centuries—especially in the 17th and 18th centuries—Swedish and Russian cartographers laid the foundations for systematic marine charting. Sea charts were cutting edge technology of their time: strategically and economically valuable documents that were carefully protected.
The maritime collection of the John Nurminen Foundation comprises nearly one thousand old maps of the Baltic Sea and northern waters, dating back as far as the 15th century. At the heart of the collection are eight rare atlases, images of which are featured in the exhibition Atlases of the Mariner.
The exhibition introduces in its first room the basics of marine charting and the history of mapping the Baltic Sea. The second room presents four sea atlases from the 17th to the 19th centuries. The charts take visitors across the entire Baltic region, offering Swedish, Dutch, Russian, and English perspectives.

Itämeren aalloilla on kuljettu jo viikinkiajoista, mutta alueen ensimmäiset varsinaiset merikartat syntyivät vasta 1500‑luvun lopulla.
Seuraavien vuosisatojen aikana, erityisesti 1600–1700‑luvuilla, ruotsalaiset ja venäläiset loivat järjestelmällisen merikartoituksen perustan. Merikartat olivat aikansa huipputeknologiaa – strategisesti ja taloudellisesti arvokkaita dokumentteja, joita suojeltiin tarkoin.
Tutustu Merenkulkijan kartastot - Karttojen matkassa Itämerellä -näyttelyyn Karttabingon kanssa.
Näyttely avaa merikartoituksen perusteita ja Itämeren kartoituksen vaiheita. Siinä syvennytään neljään 1600–1800‑lukujen merikartastoon.

Join on a time travel journey to the 18th century at the Ehrensvärd Museum!
Why is the coffee pot hidden? How did the minuet steps go again? The answers to these questions are known by the noblewoman Miss Blomcreutz, an enlightened figure from Suomenlinna.
During Miss Blomcreutz's house tours, the old Commandant's House in the castle courtyard comes to life and invites visitors to experience the 18th-century atmosphere in an authentic interior.
On the tour, you will learn about the museum and discover what the homes of 18th-century nobility were like. You will also hear about style and customs from that time.
The tour includes a chance to try the steps of the fashionable minuet dance and explore the secrets of fan language. Sofia Ulrika Blomcreutz was the daughter of Colonel Didrik Blomcreutz. He served as the head of fortification work in the absence of the fortress founder, Augustin Ehrensvärd.
Arrive at Suomenlinna, sense the whispers of history on a summer day and take an invigorating time leap to the 18th century at the Ehrensvärd Museum during Miss Blomcreutz's house tour.

During the tour, the guide introduces the visitors to the Altered by War exhibition and the illustrations drawn by the Information Company men during the Continuation War.
The Continuation War began in the summer of 1941 and ended in the autumn of 1944. As the front line advanced deep into the lost territories of Karelia, art was used to record a land and people shaped by the battles fought there. Nature, home and everyday life had been irrevocably changed.
The artworks provide a glimpse into the everyday life and moments that were a reality for wartime Finns. The trajectory of people's own lives and those close to them changed in ways they could not have foreseen just a few years earlier.
The guided tours start at the Artillery Manege, next to the ticket booth. Please register for the tour, when you arrive at the museum.
