The Finnish Nature Day is celebrated again with song in Leivonmäki National Park. Come to either listen to nature songs or join in the singing. The singing is led by Sinikka Lahti and the accordion is played by Pekka Aarnio.
The event will be held at the starting point of the Selänpohja trails, at the end of the parking area.
This weekend, Iiris Ilmonen's nature café will also be serving us in Selänpohja. The 20th anniversary publication of the national park is also on sale for 5 euros per copy.

Joutsa Skate Day – Back to School Skate Jam
Let's celebrate the new school year and the end of summer with skateboarding! It's time to take out the skateboards and head to the Joutsa Skate & Pump Track in Pohvinpuisto! Joutsa Skate Day – Back to School Skate Jam is organized on Friday, August 28, 2026, from 3 PM to 8 PM.
The event is free of charge and open to all ages, so everyone interested in skateboarding and relaxed socializing is welcome.
The program includes free skateboard lessons, a table football tournament, and a best trick competition. During the day, you can also enjoy music and grilling.
Whether you're a beginner, an experienced skater, or just interested in the event, come and spend a relaxed skate day and start the new school year with a bang!

Keski-kirjastojen ja Suomen palapeliurheiluliiton palapeliturnauksessa etsitään Keski-Suomen nopeinta palapelin kasaajaa. Nopeuskilpailussa kasataan 500 palan palapeli mahdollisimman nopeasti yksin tai parin kanssa. Ei ikärajaa. Ilmoittaudu Leivonmäen lähikirjastoon tai Joutsan pääkirjastoon perjantaihin 18.9.2026 mennessä. Alkukarsintaan on rajattu osallistujamäärä.
Finaali on la 7.11.2026 (vko 45) klo 12 alkaen Jyväskylän pääkirjastossa. Finaaliin valitaan parhaiden aikojen/palojen määrien perusteella 12 yksilöä ja paria. Finaaliin kutsutaan vasta viikon 44 lopussa Jyväskylän alkukarsintojen jälkeen eli lyhyellä varoitusajalla.
Kisaa seuraamassa saa olla yleisöä, mutta he eivät saa millään tavoin auttaa kilpailijoita.
Alkukarsinnan paras palkitaan ja mikäli finaalipaikka osuu kohdalle, siitä ilmoitetaan kilpailijalle henkilökohtaisesti.

Saat kädestä pitäen ohjeet ja opastuksen leivonnan saloihin. Kurssilla kuulet tietoa ja tarinaa Suomen rikkaasta leipäperinteestä ja ruisleivän historiasta.
Kokemusten jakaminen ja yhdessä tekeminen on se juttu lämminhenkisissä talkoissa.
Tietenkin nautitaan talkookahvit/teet kastettavan kanssa työn ja tarinoiden lomassa.
Mausteena on emännän yli 30 vuoden kokemus yhdistettyinä talkoolaisten kokeiluihin.

Eva Vikman and Teemu Rämö's From Serenity to Inspiration is a new, impactful concert experience that combines comforting songs, a healing soundscape, and expert talks on presence as a resource. The lyrics repeatedly feature hopeful themes, interspersed with discussions of self-compassion and mindfulness. The 90-minute immersive concert concludes with a shared sound bowl relaxation.
Eva Vikman is a charismatic singer and award-winning songwriter who also has a background as an occupational therapist (Bachelor's degree) and a mental wellbeing expert. Vikman, who will release her second album in September 2026, writes groove-based pop music with profound, compassionate lyrics. Performing alongside Vikman is the internationally acclaimed guitar virtuoso Teemu Rämö.

Joutsa racetrack will again host local races. The program includes nine starts, two of which are pony starts, two monté starts for cold- and warm-blooded horses, and three starts for cold-blooded and two for warm-blooded trotters.
The first 120 will be offered cake and coffee. In addition, there are other tasty snacks available at the cafes. For children, there is a hobby horse track, face painting, and a popular hobby horse race that is run on the home straight with the encouragement of the audience. HileLeppis will also be present. There are good prizes in the raffle and fan merchandise sales. Traditionally, the horse of the previous year and deserving club members are also awarded at the races. A product prize draw among ticket buyers.

Celebrate the end of the summer season at Haihatus Art Centre on Friday, 28 August 2026!
The evening features a live performance by Yhteiset kainalot and a special food art feast by the vegan Fantasia Summer Café, where a surprise menu offers unique flavours to mark the closing of the season.
Yhteiset kainalot invites audiences into a rich sonic landscape created with synthesizers, drum machines, effects, field recordings, and guitar looping. Each performance incorporates sounds from the surrounding environment, making every concert a unique experience.
The Season Closing Celebration is part of Haihatus Art Centre’s Art Camping programme and the Rihmasto (Rhizome) Summer Exhibition 2026. During the evening, visitors are also welcome to explore the exhibition, which extends throughout the gallery house, sculpture garden, and surrounding grounds.

Smoke sauna and traditional sauna are heated at the saunas of Löylyä elämään ry. In the beautiful landscape of Lake Suontee, it is wonderful to take a dip in the lake to cool down occasionally.
This is a mixed sauna, so remember to bring your swimsuit and towel with you. It is also recommended to bring your own water bottle to the sauna or for during the sauna session.
There is no separate registration for the sauna, just arrive with a good mood.
Price for members is 5 €, visitors 10 €/person. NOTE payment in cash. The price includes coffee, but there is a voluntary coffee fund to support the activities.

Metsägalleria Tapio on vuosittain toistuva kuvataiteen tapahtuma, joka esittelee sekä kansainvälisiä että kotimaisia taiteentekijöitä.
Näyttelyn teema ”Celestial gathering – Taivaallinen kokoontuminen”, on inspiroitunut luonnon tasapainon kunnioittamisesta. Teoksissa esiin nousevat kansantarut, mystiikkaa, mielikuvituksellisia jumalhahmoja, eläinhahmot, kasvit, sienet ja hyönteiset. Teokset ovat nähtävillä metsämaisemassa Metsägalleria Tapion taidepolun varrella.
Vuoden 2026 Metsägalleria on kutsunäyttely, jossa näyttelyyn osallistuvat taiteilijat ovat toteuttaneet näyttelyn teemaa mukaillen teoksia taidepolulle.
Näyttelyn on kuratoinut kuvanveistäjä SantiYago (Karhu) Delgado. Joka on myös yksi näyttelyyn osallistuvista taiteilijoista.

The 27th summer exhibition of the Art Institute Haihatus, Rihmasto (Mycelium) spreads to Haihatus, opens in the renewed courtyard in Joutsa on 19.6.–30.8.2026. The exhibition features twenty artists and artist groups operating in Finland, who examine the theme of mycelium from diverse perspectives.
The works of the exhibition are spread throughout the gallery building, the garden, and the outbuildings, forming an intuitive route that the visitor can follow at their own pace. The exhibition includes installations, sculptures, and participatory works that invite the audience to experience art with the whole body. Some of the works live and change during the exhibition in interaction with the audience, nature, and the environment.
The Rihmasto exhibition combines perspectives from art, science, and community action in the themes of the sustainability transition. Alongside the familiar outsider art pieces in the garden area, there is also an international work belonging to the Art Without Transportation project, a sculpture by Canadian artist Jude Griebel, locally crafted.
In connection with the exhibition visit, you can enjoy the vegan summer café offerings of Haihatus, explore the sales exhibition in the museum shop, and overnight in the Art Camping area in hammocks or tents. During the summer, there will also be workshops, guided tours, and concerts. For example, collage, spray painting, and philosophy workshops can be attended with the exhibition ticket price.

KITA 5 years! Contemporary art summer exhibition Alkuhämärä / Primal Dawn 6.6.-30.8.2026.

The Alkuhämärä / Primal Dawn exhibition delves into archaic movement through the means of art, science and mysticism. A lively contemporary art group exhibition is realized with the power of current top domestic names from Finland. The artists of the summer exhibition are Laura Dahlberg, Heidi Kesti, Maippi Ketola & Harri Vähänissi, Emmi Pakkanen, Anssi Taulu and KITA graphic designer Jari Johannes as well as artistic director Tuomo Vuoteenoma.
