This September, Chamber Choir Ireland and Gabriel Crouch come to Westport with a concert of music by Veljo Tormis, Emma O'Halloran, Michael Gordon, and Francisco del Pino. Featuring a delightful selection of Balto-Finnic folk songs by Veljo Tormis, ranging from wedding songs and lullabies to songs about the natural world around us: birds, animals, changing seasons, life and death in the country. Directed by Garry Hynes, with set and costume design by Francis O’Connor, 'A Moon for the Misbegotten' is one of the great canonical works of the 20th century, the sequel to Long Day’s Journey into Night, and the last of O’Neill's trio of largely autobiographical plays which reflect his complex relationship with Ireland. The cast is Lorcan Cranitch, Rory Nolan, Marty Rea, Cathal Ryan, and Eileen Walsh. This production follows The Shaughraun, the opening play of Druid’s 2026 Season Strange Country: Ireland in America.

Running from Friday 25th - Sunday 27th September 2026, The Galway International Oyster Festival is a citywide celebration of oysters, seafood and Galway’s famous hospitality scene – with the main events free for locals and visitors to the city to enjoy. Featuring the World Oyster Opening Championship live on the street on Saturday afternoon, with competitors from all around the world. Draíocht II – The Alchemy of Music is an evening of passion, power and musical magic. Guest Conductor Christopher George leads a thrilling programme that begins with the youthful sparkle of Mozart's Divertimento in B-flat major, before Bach's exhilarating Concerto for Three Violins showcases the dazzling artistry of soloists Paul Ezerailis, Bogdan Sofei and Ingrid Nicola. Working in cast porcelain, metal and marble, artist John Rainey reconfigures the visual language of classical statuary to propose alternative sculptural histories. Forms appear both familiar and strange: bodies shift between states, fragments are grafted or misaligned, and surfaces imitate other materials. Rainey draws on an archive of plaster-moulded forms to assemble composite, mythological figures through processes of recombination, echoing the hybrid characters of Galway’s Macnas parades. Presented as an evolving system of forms, 'Deviations' allows familiar structures to drift from their origins, opening new possibilities for form, material and meaning.
