With _RED_, **Eszter Salamon** has created an experience that is at once a political manifesto, a sensory ritual and an act of remembrance. Inspired by the subversive legacy of Valeska Gert (1892–1978), a radical figure of the German avant-garde who has been erased from history, the performance brings together painting, voice, sound and body in one continuous movement, conjuring a space in perpetual transformation.
Inside a painting studio initially left immaculate, the colour red slowly invades the space, covering surfaces, materials and skin alike. The brushstrokes become letters, screams, traces of life. Driven by an electric guitar, looping soundscapes and the force of Gert’s anti-fascist poetry, Eszter Salamon composes a political fresco where past and present confront one another with striking urgency.
Somewhere between punk cabaret, visual performance and ceremony of resistance, _RED_ brings a buried history back to life. A physical and sensory journey that questions the suppression of dissident voices, the memory held within bodies, and our ability today to reactivate struggles once thought forgotten.
