Encounter the goddesses of the Finnish creation myth (Kalevala) with Barbara Hannigan and pianist Bertrand Chamayou in John Zorn’s striking and “un-singable” Jumalattaret. Hannigan also performs Olivier Messiaen’s song cycle Songs of Earth and Heaven. George Benjamin’s Division for Four Hands receives its Swedish premiere, with the composer himself at the piano. In between, piano works by Alexander Scriabin offer moments of respite within an intense and evocative programme.
