‘Metsä M’ is a physical performance exploring the essence of the forest and our feelings on forests.
The work is communal and group-based. The Metsä M collective consists of ten forest activists, including professionals from both the arts and other fields. We went into an unspoilt forest and pressed ourselves against the tree trunks and the moss. We listened to the forest. Its sounds and our own voices. We created music and sound from the forest and with it. We wrote down our forest feelings and thoughts, explored the subject comprehensively, and then Katja Luhtala directed and composed this performance based on our shared journey. A performance in various forms and with different ensembles; its branches live and bring the forest to places where it is absent.
