Jukka Ilmonen, leader of the Metsäkissa2044 project, presents the findings of the two-year project. What have we achieved?
At the heart of the project are people’s utopian visions, which we sought to outline as an alternative to the current ecological crisis verging on dystopia. Over the past two years, participants in the Metsäkissa2044 project produced utopian texts on the theme of the forest. The texts were updated during the process, the aim being to see how participation in artistic productions transformed these utopian visions. Contributions were received from those taking part in the Metsäteatteri group and audio works.
Other Metsäkissa2044 project participants also showcase their own work. The exhibition features journalism, visual arts, theatre and music alike. The work as a whole is presented on the website www.metsakissa.fi.
The event is part of the multi-sensory In the Shelter of the Forest exhibition and event series that invites you to reflect on the future of the forest through art, science and participation. Learn more about the event series .
