Tuomari Nurmio & Folk-Liisa

Dates:

Wed, 9 Sept 2026, 19:00–21:00

Judge Nurmio & Folk-Liisa is a duo that combines folk music traditions, roughness and narrative depth in a unique way.

The band consists of Tuomari Nurmio, a legend of Finnish rock and folk music, and Liisa Eskola, who has delved deeply into folk music. The duo describe their music as “kitchen music or urban electro-folk”.

Tuomari Nurmio is not only a central songwriter and influencer in Finnish rock music, but also more capable of reinventing himself as a performer than most. During his career, which began in 1979, Tuomari Nurmio has released 19 studio albums, two of which have gone gold. The list of his releases hailed by critics as classics, celebrated concerts and accolades is long – it bears mentioning here that Nurmio is the only rock musician who has ever been awarded the Eino Leino Prize in literature.

Liisa “Folk-Liisa” Eskola has been singing and playing guitar with the band Ajopuut and as part of a duo with Tuomari Nurmio since 2008.
