Producer Charles Gil’s Vapaat äänet (‘Free Voices’), which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this autumn, presents two ensembles at a concert at Malmitalo.
Runoja rauhalle – Poems for Peace is an emotive, meditative manifesto for peace by two saxophonists, Joakim Berghäll and Adele Sauros. Formed as a result of Norwegian-French collaboration, T.I.M. creates fascinating experimental music in the spirit of folk. This is the 38th tour produced jointly by Vapaat äänet and the Finnish Jazz Federation since 1996.

The compositions featured in Joakim Berghäll’s and Adele Sauros’s duo concert stem from a solo improvisation played by Berghäll in a single sitting, catalysed in an abstract manner by anti-war poems written in various crisis zones around the world. The melodic themes for the compositions have been written down exactly as they were, without altering a single note, remaining true to the impulses of improvisation. Berghäll and Sauros recorded the tracks in Kamppi Chapel, and that is how the album Runoja rauhalle came about.
