Helsinki-based afro-jazz/afro-fusion ensemble Baraka Issabu Trio brings together Tanzanian and Finnish musicians, connected through their studies in Finland. The trio's music is rooted in East African rhythmic concepts and song forms, expanded through jazz harmony, improvisation, and contemporary arrangement.
Led by Baraka on keys and voice, the sound moves between storytelling melodies, deep grooves, and improvisational interplay – shifting effortlessly from swing to dance-driven Afro-fusion energy. The repertoire features original compositions and selected arrangements, shaped for both concert settings and club stages where spontaneity and rhythm can evolve in the moment.

Baraka Issabu Trio performs on the Espa Stage on 22 July in lieu of the previously cancelled Zangoma performance.
