The rapid expansion of AI can be confusing and overwhelming. What do we make of AI? How do we engage with it in a way that promotes human flourishing? These are big questions, the kind of questions that religious and spiritual traditions have been addressing for millenia. This talk draws from the Buddhist, Christian, and Yoga traditions to suggest insights and practices to help us stay centered on what makes us human and helps us flourish. The talk is practical rather than theoretical and is addressed at an audience coming from diverse religious and spiritual traditions or from none of them. Emilio Lehoucq is a data scientist at Northwestern University. He previously earned a PhD in sociology, focusing on the sociology of AI, and an MS in statistics from Northwestern. Emilio is a yoga instructor (RYT-500) and maintains a website that provides resources about AI from a Catholic perspective: https://aiandcatholicism.com/ .
