Using an Afrofuturistic lens of the universe, this multi-media presentation explores space travel in Black music, and Chicago's history as the capital of Black aviation in America to demonstrate how this unique legacy is responsible for many Black Chicagoans taking flight as pilots, even producing on the nation's first Black astronauts. Presented as part of the Renaissance Project, this event invites participants to actively engage with the rich and often untold stories of Black history and heritage at Chicago Public Library.
