Maijansali – Oodi
Kolibrí Festivaali (www.kolibrifestivaali.org) celebrates the 15th edition's Opening at Oodi Library with a special multilingual interactive children's event featuring our special guests - Trio Mandeng and our first ever youngest artist: Rio Saarto!
The celebration begins with the magical movements of Rio Saarto (Finland/Peru) born in the same year as Kolibrí. Rio will perform Follow the River, a choreography in which movement flows forward like a running river, playing with rhythm and changing directions.
The festivities continue with Trio Mandeng: Maarika Autio (Finland), Adama Kone (Mali), and Mohamed Bangoura (Guinea). Through live music, the delicate melodies of the kora harp and balafon transport audiences to a magical world where trees can speak, and dragons love the sound of drums. The concert draws inspiration from the ancient Mande music and storytelling traditions of West Africa.
