After a one-year hiatus, Herttoniemi Village Festival is being held once again in Herttoniemi Sports Park (address: Siilitie 12), also known affectionately as “Urtsi”. The Village Festival will take place in the sports park on Sunday 6 September 2026 from 10.00 to 14.00.
This year’s Village Festival will also mark the official opening of the overhauled sports park. The sports park, which has garnered a lot of attention, will be inaugurated by Paavo “Sports Mayor” Arhinmäki, Deputy Mayor of Helsinki, following his opening speech at the Village Festival. Matti Hirvonen will also deliver an opening speech on behalf of the local club Herttoniemen Toverit (HerTo). The ‘Herttoniemi Deed of the Year’ award will also be presented at the Village Festival.
Plenty of activities and events
The Village Festival offers a wide range of activities for all ages. For children aged 4–12, there is a traditional 60-metre sprint, for which participants can sign up on site during the first hour of the event, between 10.00 and 11.00. The race has age group categories for girls and boys, as well as one open category for anyone who wishes to take part.
Additionally, the junior teams of Herttoniemen Toverit will have exhibition matches on the artificial turf field. HerTo will also hold a football corner at the festival, where you can have the speed of your shots measured with a speed radar, for example.
