”We made a random stop in a tiny border town in Nevada. The Branford Marsalis Quartet playing ‘Hope’ made me pull over and take a few pictures by the side of the road. I had to pee, so I disappeared beside the car without much hesitation. You seemed genuinely startled by my spontaneity. Then again, we didn’t know each other that well, yet.
A few minutes later, we realized we’d stopped at a machine-gun shooting range. We got back in the car and left a lot faster than we’d arrived.”
