From Bamboo to the Flute

Dates:

Fri, Sep 18, 2026, 8:00 AM–12:00 PM

Cut from a thin bamboo rod pierced with six holes, the flute des mornes—better known as toutoun' bamboo—is an emblematic instrument of Caribbean heritage. Born on the heights of Martinique and Guadeloupe, she remains the living symbol of the resistance and inventiveness of maroon slaves taking refuge in the woods.

A workshop will be led by Jean-Claude PORINUS, then followed by a tale told by Raphaël ANNEROSE and accompanied by the flute of Claudie ANNEROSE.
