How can we engage with the future?
How do societies attempt to unravel the mysteries of the future? What practices, objects and beliefs enable us to connect with the future?
As part of the exhibition ‘What is the future?’, the MEG is launching a series of discussions dedicated to the many ways in which societies imagine, anticipate and shape the future. This first session is devoted to divination and the various ways of communicating with the future.
To enrich this discussion, two guests will offer their contrasting perspectives:
**Damien Kunick**, curator of Asian art at the MEG and co-curator of the exhibition
**Frédéric de Meyer,** author and artist
This discussion is intended to be open, participatory and lively. Everyone is invited to contribute, sharing their knowledge, experiences or questions. The aim is to build a collective reflection together, where different forms of knowledge intersect and complement one another.
More broadly, this session forms part of a series of four discussions centred on different themes from the exhibition. These offer a range of perspectives through which to examine how we think about the future.
Each session will take the form of a forum for discussion open to the public, encouraging dialogue and active participation. Together, we will examine the narratives, practices and imaginaries that help us envisage what lies ahead.
