Sueye Park, the South Korean winner of the International Jean Sibelius Violin Competition, will perform Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto as soloist with Pori Sinfonietta. It is one of the most important and best-known violin concertos in the history of classical music. Even before her competition victory, the 26-year-old Park was already an accomplished musician. Among other achievements, she recorded Paganini’s 24 Caprices at the age of just 16.
Christian Kluxen will make his first appearance as a conductor with Pori Sinfonietta. The experienced Danish conductor has worked with major orchestras around the world and has chosen a programme featuring Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7 alongside Britta Byström’s work, which playfully references one of the symphony’s themes.
