Pori Quartet, a string quartet made up of musicians from Pori Sinfonietta, together with pianist Laura Vänttinen, follows in the footsteps of two very different composers. The concert title, Schu-Steps & Foote-prints, is a play on the composers’ surnames, both of which evoke feet and shoes.
Robert Schumann’s Piano Quintet is considered one of his finest compositions. Outgoing in character, it is filled with vitality and joy. American composer Arthur Foote remains largely unknown to wider audiences, yet his distinctive and surprise-filled quintet unquestionably deserves to be heard.
The concert will also be presented in Kokemäki as part of the Satasoitto Festival.
