A woman, a man. Are they lovers, friends, brother and sister, or ghosts stranded in a no-man’s-land? Here, the material world seems to have vanished. All that matters is their enigmatic bond—their unique way of being lost together, of existing in the world within the relative isolation of “alone together.” What binds their need for intimacy is the desire to share the same silence, symptomatic of human inequalities. Silence has become so rare that it is now a luxury to which only a few are entitled. The majority, overwhelmed by the noise of the world, continues to endure its deafening clamor. So, as a form of gentle resistance, the man and the woman envision creating a place where silence would be accessible, free, collective, and shared.
