December 1965, northern Sudan. A team of Swiss archaeologists began exploring the Tabo site, marked by two impressive, millennia-old royal colossi lying on the ground. Thus began an extraordinary human and scientific adventure that continues to this day around the ancient city of Kerma and the Doukki Gel site, a fascinating place that sheds new light on this distant past. The exhibition invites visitors to follow in the footsteps of these scientists who, season after season, are unearthing from the sands of Sudan the forgotten history of this region and the civilization that flourished there. Through some 100 archival photographs and excavation journals, it brings to life the memory of the fieldwork and discoveries accumulated over the decades.
