Who we are helping:
North Finchley Community Grocery, run through Message Trust, helps local members access affordable food and household essentials. This task will support the team by helping get their weekly delivery safely into the store, ready for the community.
What we’ll be doing:
GoodGym has been asked by Claire Franks from North Finchley Community Grocery to help bring in a heavy delivery on Monday mornings.
This will involve helping to pull, push and carry items into the store. There is a ramp where the delivery needs to be moved up and down, so volunteers will need to take care and be aware of members of the public while working.
This is a practical, useful task that directly helps the grocery get food and supplies ready for local people.
Important information:
This task involves manual handling and moving heavy items. Please only sign up if you are comfortable helping with lifting, pulling, pushing and carrying.
GoodGymers should have completed manual handling training. There is a short video available to help with this.
Equipment:
Gloves will be provided.
Risk notes:
Risk to runner: yes.
Volunteers will need to be careful when moving heavy items, using the ramp, and working around members of the public.
