Sewing: Guide to Hemming Pants

Dates:

Sat, Sep 26, 2026, 10:00 AM–12:00 PM

Join the Sulzer Sewing Team with Sewing Instructor Jessica Dusel for this two-hour workshop! You will discover the basics of the sewing machine in a fun and supportive environment! Participants can expect to learn how to take accurate measurements for altering pants, the double-fold and single-fold hem techniques and invisible hemming for dress pants. Whether you're a beginner or looking to refresh your skills, this class will guide you step by step, leaving you with new confidence in sewing and hemming. We ask attendees to please bring 1 or 2 pair of pants they can practice on. Jessica Dusel has been refining her craft for over 30 years, inspired by her grandmothers and sewing teacher Florence Peck. After interning with Jess Audey at Macy’s fashion incubator, she launched BB&IDA in 2012, showcasing her unique style. Building a loyal following in Chicago and beyond, Jessica focuses on durable, eco-friendly, and stylish pieces for women of all sizes. Her bespoke designs add whimsy and personalization, collaborating closely with clients to create garments that reflect both their needs and her creative vision Accessibility Need sign language interpretation or other accessibility assistance for this event?
