Lucía Garcés Dávila is an Ecuadorian designer, educator, and photographer based in Chicago. She will be speaking about her work and book, Ojo al Aviso , a photographic panorama of visual street communication which presents the art of hand-painted storefront signs of Quito, Ecuador. Through documentary photography, Lucía describes the graphic design, art traditions and life stories of Ecuadorian artists and observes similar elements among Chicago's neighborhoods. An exhibition of Lucía's photography will be on display in the South Lobby Exhibition Case at the Sulzer Regional Library from September 7-30, 2026.
