Release of Paul Beaubrun’s new album—\*Vertières\*, a tribute to the revolutionary legacy—featuring the legendary voodoo rock band Boukman Eksperyans
In the early 1990s, Boukman Eksperyans was Haiti’s most popular band, and their “voodoo adjae”—meaning “danced voodoo”—spread like wildfire across the country, with songs like “Se kreyo’l nou ye,” “Kè m Pa Sote,” and “Kalfou Danjere” becoming anthems for Haitian youth.
Paul Beaubrun, son of the original band, is a singer and multi-instrumentalist who is now opening up a new musical dimension. As the heir to this cultural commitment, he infuses this legacy with a bold modernity, building a bridge between tradition and innovation.
Even today, remaining skeptical of the ruling powers, Boukman Eksperyans continues, through its music, to carry a message of freedom, awareness, and love to stages around the world.
