Zafîf, which means “the rustling of the wind” in Arabic, is an innovative musical adventure at the crossroads of European, African, and Turkish-Arab cultures. Formed in 2017 in Geneva by Samir Mokrani and Khalil Bensid, the group blurs genre boundaries with the sounds of the oud, guembri, saz, and a host of percussion instruments, crafting hybrid sounds that blend Gnawa rhythms, G-funk, and Arabic and Anatolian melismas. A musical journey marked by the constant presence of ancient Gnawa and Yemeni masters. At the crossroads of genres, origins, and each member’s musical influences, Zafîf’s music transcends the boundaries of simple fusion, offering original compositions in which improvisation plays an essential role. \--- DJ Ramin A DJ and producer of Swiss and Iranian descent, Ramin curates the Club Salaam nights at La Gravière in Geneva, as well as radio shows on Noods Radio and Radio Alhara. \--- Samir Mokrani: oud Khalil Bensid: bass and gembri Dorian Selmi: drums Alban Ribouleau: keyboard
