Let us be creative together! Come and make beautiful and practical decorations and develop your craft skills.
We hold art workshops with varying themes in the Vuosaari House lobby on Wednesdays once a month. The art workshops are suitable for children and adults alike. You will be provided with the necessary materials on site.
The art workshops are instructed by visual artist Chloé Mahy-Hulkko. The instruction languages are Finnish, English and French.
Entry to the workshops is free of charge!
Autumn programme
Wednesday 26 August, 16.00–18.00 | Fabric, collage and embroidery
We make a colourful fabric collage by using recycled fabrics. We build the collage from canvas bags, using an iron to glue the fabrics together. Children under the age of 8 may only participate if accompanied by an adult. If you want to, you can continue decorating the bag with embroidery.
Wednesday 23 September at 16.00–18.00 | Press print graphics
We try out a simple and fun relief printing technique. We use a pen to carve a design into the press print sheet, apply paint with a roller and then use our palms to create the print.
Wednesday 21 October at 16.00–18.00 | Autumn leaves in a mirror
We sketch tree leaves in pencil. We use a mirror to study symmetry in nature.
Wednesday 25 November at 16.00–18.00 | Stars of many kinds
Using string and coloured cardboard, we make beautiful star decorations to brighten up the darkest time of the year.
