Te-En Chen is a composer, synthesist and sound artist based in Linz, Austria. His work bridges classical tradition and experimental practice through live electronics, modular synthesis, multichannel composition and free improvisation. Combining real-time sound processing with synthesizer performance, he creates immersive sonic dialogues between acoustic instruments and electronic textures in interdisciplinary collaborations.
Composer and synthesist Te-En Chen and pianist/composer Milan Conić first crossed paths in Linz, Austria—a city whose vibrant artistic landscape encourages encounters between acoustic tradition and electronic innovation. Their collaboration emerged from a shared fascination with improvisation, sound exploration and the dialogue between human expression and technology. At the heart of the project lies the meeting of the refined hammer action and rich resonance of a Bechstein grand piano with the limitless sonic possibilities of modular synthesis and live electronic sound design.
Rather than presenting fixed compositions, the duo creates open-form performances in which each concert unfolds as a unique sonic journey. Piano, synthesizers and real-time electronic processing interact as equal voices, shaping immersive musical landscapes that evolve spontaneously and remain open to the unexpected.
