Sinécdoque: The Prosthetic Self
Dates:
Thu, 10 Sept 2026, 11:00–11:30
Berenice Olmedo’s work challenges the idea of the human body as autonomous and complete. Drawing on disability studies and cyborg theory, her sculptures explore the body as inherently relational, shaped by technologies, care, and interdependence. In dialogue with philosophy, this talk, which is hosted by researchers of the Catholic Private University Linz, examines notions of incompleteness, connection and transformation, asking how prosthetic technologies reshape our understanding of embodiment and human experience.
