On the occasion of the Bicentenary of Photography, the French Institute of Turkey and the France-Turkey Association are launching the Photography Prize "In the footsteps of Pierre Loti", an invitation to cross paths between France and Turkey through contemporary photographic creation.
The objective of this photography contest is to promote the Franco-Turkish imagination. Turkey, and Istanbul in particular, is a source of inspiration without limit for visual travel where all the senses are solicited.
Inspired by the figure of Pierre Loti, sensitive observer of human and cultural links between the two shores, this prize celebrates photography as a territory of encounter, memory and dialogue. It invites artists to explore the shared narratives, landscapes and imaginations that continue to connect France and Turkey today, in all their richness and complexity.
Conceived as a time of discovery, visibility and professional exchanges, this award aims to support emerging and established photographers, promote artistic collaborations and encourage new visual writings. Exhibition, meetings and exchanges with professionals of the image will punctuate this initiative placed under the sign of the look, transmission and circulation of ideas.
Through this award, the French Institute of Turkey and the France-Turkey Association wish to open a space for contemporary artistic dialogue where photography becomes a common language, capable of telling the links, the movements, memories and sensitivities that unite the two countries.
