This exhibition presents six works—primarily Golden Nica and Grand Prize winners— selected from the Prix Ars Electronica 2026 (4,329 submissions from 106 countries) and the European Commission’s STARTS Prize 2026 (2,719 submissions from 110 countries).

Each of these works deconstructs and reimagines, with striking necessity, the notion of “humanity” that we have long taken for granted—from diverse perspectives, including bodily perception, the nature of capitalist technology, the new autonomous creativity of AI, history, geopolitics and the climate crisis. Together, the award-winning works reveal that what we believe to be “human” is not fixed but perpetually shifting, granting vivid form to this year’s festival theme, NEGOTIATING HUMANITY.

The artists, in other words, are themselves at the forefront of negotiating humanity. Their insights are at times counterintuitive, holding ambiguity within them—unsettling us even as they give us courage.
