What if the National Gallery collection could dream? This Al-driven installation journeys through over 2,400 artworks, uncovering unexpected connections between paintings, artists and ideas. Shaped by visitor voices, it transforms collection data into a living map of discovery. National Gallery Dreaming is an Al-powered interactive installation that explores the hidden relationships within the National Gallery, London’s collection. Developed in collaboration with digital agency Numiko as part of the Gallery’s NGX innovation program, this audio-visual project combines computer vision, collection metadata, generative soundscapes by composer and sound artist Ben Eyes and knowledge graph technologies to uncover connections between artworks, artists, places, people, ideas and the viewer. The installation invites visitors to shape its journey through spoken prompts. As it responds National Gallery Dreaming reveals unexpected pathways through more than 2,400 artworks, creating a dynamic visualization of the collection’s rich interconnectedness.
