Alisa Martynova’s residency at the Ars Electronica Futurelab in 2026 explores perception, consciousness and the unstable nature of truth through an immersive projection environment developed for Deep Space 8K. Drawing from studies on binocular rivalry, entropy and the default neural network, this work examines how the brain constructs reality from fragmented and ambiguous visual information. Dissonant Stereoscopy places the audience within sensory thresholds where the visual system attempts to disambiguate unstable inputs—seeing emerges from the interplay of memory, past experience and interpretation.
