The Music: The sessions feature a lineup of master local musicians, including familiar faces like the Hernon family and Don Stiffe. Instruments typically driving the tunes include the fiddle, tin whistle, banjo, uilleann pipes, and the bodhrán (the traditional goatskin frame drum). The Singing: The nights heavily feature traditional Sean-Nós (old style) singing. These are unaccompanied, highly ornamental Gaelic songs passed down through generations, performed by notable local vocalists such as Caitriona Ní Cheannabháin. The Dancing: The stage comes alive with rhythmic Sean-Nós dancing—which is characterized by low-to-the-ground footwork and improvisational steps—as well as brush dancing, step dancing, and set dancing.
