UN-ORGANIC is the eighth edition of an interdisciplinary artistic project developed since 2019 by the Random Check Media Ensemble (RCME)—a collective of artists affiliated with the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art and Design and the Karol Lipinski Academy of Music in Wrocław along with invited guest collaborators. The project comprises four audiovisual compositions, performative actions and an interactive multimedia installation.
The central theme of the Random Check 8 project is UN-ORGANIC. Their interest lies in what is inverted in relation to the organic (i.e., the living, human, natural, biological, etc.) and at the same time impossible without it.
UN-ORGANIC is an exceptionally flexible category in process, continuously reflecting our relationship to nature and technology, to the nature—culture dichotomy in the 21st century, to the spontaneous hybridization of the worlds of humans and non-humans (including machines and AI) and to the prosthetization of human capacities for thinking and communication through increasingly “human” silicon-based solutions.
Media art and new technologies teach us to unlearn the classical image of a world divided into dead and living matter, the inorganic and the organic. UN-RGANIC reverses the traditional logic of history: fixed points of reference dissolve into loops between humans and machines, nature and technology.
