Thomas Tallis’ Lamentationes Jeremiae are among the most powerful works of the 16th century. Written for Holy Week, it combines strict compositional craft with remarkable emotional concentration. In carefully shaped vocal lines, Tallis distills grief, loss and consolation with exceptional clarity, creating an intensity that speaks directly across centuries.
On the same evening, The Company of Music, under the direction of Johannes Hiemetsberger, will also perform Canssandra Miller’s City, full of people. They approach these works with a transparent, text-sensitive sound—bringing Renaissance mastery and contemporary reflection into a powerful, timeless dialogue.
