Antinniitystä halutaan on toimiva, turvallinen ja viihtyisä lähipuisto.
Tervetuloa tutustumaan suunnitelmiin sekä kertomaan omia toiveita ja huomioita paikan päälle 2.9.2026 klo 18–19.30!
Tapaamme pallokentällä klo 18. Keskustelemme puiston parannuksen lähtökohdista, kuulemme asukkaiden toiveita, tutustumme puiston historiallisiin aiheisiin, parannettavaan huleveden käsittelyyn sekä tieverkostoon ja valaistukseen. Liikumme kävellen.
Puistoon on tulossa leikkipaikka. Tervetuloa lapsiperheet kertomaan, millainen leikkipaikka olisi kiva!
Alueen rakenteita, kasvillisuutta ja pintamateriaaleja kunnostetaan ja valaistus uusitaan. Puiston hyväkuntoinen puusto säilytetään ja tavoitteena on säilyttää puiston vehreä yleisilme.
Suunnitelmaluonnokset tulevat syksyllä esille kaupungin verkkosivuille, jolloin niihin voi antaa kirjallista palautetta.

Helsingin kaupunki järjestää yleisötilaisuuden Hakuninmaalle suunnitellulle luonnonsuojelualueelle.
Tervetuloa maastokäynnille tutustumaan tulevaan luonnonsuojelualueeseen ja sen luontoarvoihin ja keskustelemaan luonnosta ja virkistyskäytöstä. Asukkailla on nyt mahdollisuus kertoa omia näkemyksiään sekä keskustella hoidon ja käytön suunnittelusta kaupungin asiantuntijoiden kanssa.
Hakuninmaan luonnonsuojelualue kuuluu Helsingin kaupungin luonnonsuojelualueohjelman 2025–2038 kohteisiin. Alue on tarkoitus viedä päätöksentekoon keväällä 2027.

Kimpitien pohjoispäästä (Kimpitie 22) lähtevä kävelytie.
Tilaisuuden aikana liikumme kävelyteitä ja polkuja pitkin alle 1 kilometrin matkan.

Welcome to the creative activities group! In this group, we explore different creative ways of self-expression, with a special focus on arts and crafts.
The activities are participant-oriented, and the children are involved in planning the content. No prior experience in art hobbies is required.
The activities support the children's own creativity.
The instructor acts as a spark for imagination and a creator of opportunities within the group. A sense of community and doing things together are essential. The core values of the activity are inclusion, diversity, community, and equality.

Filosofian praktikko, tietokirjailija ja luennoitsija Severi Hämäri kertoo uudesta teoksestaan 12 filosofia – muinaisten filosofien suuria oivalluksia (Aviador, 2026).

Rauhanliikekannallepano on yhteisöllinen ja leikkisä esitystaidetapahtumien sarja, joka kysyy: Miltä rauha näyttää ja tuntuu?
Tapahtumissa osallistujat tekevät yhdessä Toisissa tiloissa -kollektiivin taiteilijoiden kanssa kollektiivisia ruumiillisia tekoja eli “rauhanliikkeitä”. Liikkeitä säestää ja tunnelmaa nostattaa elävä puhallinmusiikki.

Welcome to the Welcome Day event at Kanneltalo!
The day will culminate in a free concert by Grande Mahogany at 6:00 PM in Kannelsali, located inside Kanneltalo. Seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis. The hall has a capacity of 220 people.
Grande Mahogany reflects the spirit of music pioneers, breaking boundaries and crafting a sound pulsing with the vitality of funk, the rawness of alt-rock, and the expansiveness of psychedelia. Born in Finland, the musician absorbed global rhythms from an early age, and moving to Manchester at 11 deepened the multi-layered tapestry of his music.
As a respected multi-instrumentalist, Grande Mahogany largely composed and produced his debut album Grande Mahogany – As Grande As, released in spring 2024. The album received acclaim from Finnish music critics, as well as from internationally renowned reviewers like Anthony Fantano of The Needle Drop, and prestigious music platforms such as COLORS and Sleeping on Gems. It was also warmly received on radio stations including BBC 6 and BBC 1, as well as on KCR platforms in the United States.

Luontokuvia keväästä ja kesästä 2026 on Haagan Taideseuran jäsenen Tiia Bhandarin (os. Mustonen) valokuvanäyttely.
Näyttelyssä on esillä 15 valokuvaa Suomen luonnosta parhaimmillaan, ja ne on otettu näyttelyn nimen mukaisesti kevään ja kesän aikana vuonna 2026.
Bhandari on vuonna 1989 syntynyt vapaa taiteilija ja valokuvaaja. Hän on ollut Haagan Taideseuran jäsen kesästä 2019 alkaen.

Andrew and Melissa are childhood friends who keep in touch through the decades by writing letters.
They live their lives in their own way, build careers and relationships, become middle-aged and grow old. Sometimes one of them will suggest a meeting.
Love Letters is a play for two, now starring two of Finland's most beloved actors, Seela Sella and Esko Roine. This play has been performed by many of the world's most famous actors, including Elizabeth Taylor, Gerard Depardieu, Mia Farrow, Tom Hanks and Mel Gibson.
The nature of the play is that it is by no means to be memorised, but to be performed in the moment, in the here and now. There will be no pretty-pretty reminiscing or wistful nostalgia, but genuine, real-life correspondence, unadulterated and fun.

Malminkartanon nimistökävely, Puustellinpolulta Vuorenjuurelle.
Miten katujen ja puistojen nimet syntyvät? Opastetulla vuorovaikutteisella kiertokävelyllä Malminkartanossa tutustumme nimistön kautta esihistoriaan, puustellinkartanon ja yliopiston koetilan vaiheisiin sekä nykyaikaan, luontoaiheita unohtamatta. Kävelemme noin 2,5 km, reitti on helppokulkuinen. Tarvitset ulkoilukengät ja säähän sopivat vaatteet.
Lähtöpaikka on Malminkartanonaukio ja kävely päättyy Malminkartanonhuipun juurelle; halukkaat voivat jatkaa huipulle ihailemaan maisemia.
Elokuussa junat eivät pysähdy Malminkartanossa aseman remontin vuoksi. Voit saapua paikalle bussilinjoilla 30, 37, 41A tai 59.

On Mun Kantsun aika.
Kesäkuussa Kannelmäen Sitratorilla raikaa, kun rataa laitetaan kuntoon. Raideremontin ajaksi Kanneltalo tuo Sitratorille ulkoilmanäyttelyn nimeltä Mun Kantsu.
Mustavalkoiset henkilökuvat ja tekstit esittelevät ihmisiä, joille Kannelmäki on tärkeä ja rakas. Mukana on monen sukupolven kantsulaisia sekä ihmisiä, jotka ovat saapuneet kaupunginosaan aivan vasta. Kannelmäessä jokainen saa elää omalla tavallaan, juuri se on asukkaiden mielestä Kantsun kauneutta.
Mun Kantsu -näyttelyn avajaisia juhlitaan tiistaina 16. kesäkuuta 2026 klo 17–19 Sitratorilla.
Kuvat on ottanut valokuvataiteilija Anna Autio, tekstit ovat toimittaja Kaisa Viitasen.
”Näyttely on kunnianosoitus Kannelmäen moninaisuudelle. Jokaisella kuviin valitulla henkilöllä on Kantsuun omanlaisensa suhde”, tekijät sanovat.

Maanantai 7.9.2026 klo 18.00 - Kirjailijavieraana Riko Saatsi. Vuoden 2025 Finlandia-palkintoehdokas Yönistujat käsittelee karjalaista identiteettiä ja evakkoja. Teos on Saatsin tapa edistää karjalan kielen asemaa. Saatsin muuhun tuotantoon kuuluu novellikokoelma Hyviä aikomuksia (2021) sekä lukuisia teatteriohjauksia.
Riko Saatsia haastattelee FT, kirjallisuudentutkija Hanna Karhu.
Maanantai 14.9.2026 klo 18.00 - Kirjailijavieraana Monika Fagerholm. Vuoden 2025 Finlandia-palkintovoittaja Eristystila: kapinoivia naisia käsittelee nuoren naisen kasvutarinaa 1970-luvulla, taiteilijaksi kasvamista, porvarillista elämänpiiriä ja kapinaa, totta kai. Monika Fagerholm on Suomen arvostetuimpia nykykirjailijoita, jonka Finlandia-palkintoa on odotettu vuosikausia.
Monika Fagerholmia haastattelee FM Hannimari Heino, Fagerholmin suomentaja. Haastattelu pidetään suomeksi, mutta kirjailijalta saa kysyä kysymyksiä toki myös ruotsin kielellä.
Maanantai 9.11.2026 klo 18:00 - Kirjailijavieraana avaruustähtitieteen emeritusprofessori Esko Valtaoja. Valtaoja on tunnettu tieteen kansantajuistaja. Hän ruotii aikamme ja maailmamme ilmiöitä omaan jäljittelemättömään tyyliinsä. Lavalla keskustellaan Valtaojan uusimmista teoksista, mm. Kuukävely ja kuusi voileipää -esseekokoelmasta. Saatetaan sivuta myös Maailmankaikkeudesta-teosta.

Timo Lassy and Niko Kumpuvaara’s jazz is characterised by world music and sensitivity. The concert is part of the Jazz in Finland 100 centenary celebrations.
The acoustic duo of Timo Lassy and Niko Kumpuvaara brings out the rich hues of the saxophone and the accordion in an intimate manner. The duo’s playing incorporates jazz and world music influences with the sensitive expression of chamber music. In addition to their own compositions, their repertoire includes music by Egberto Gismonti, Astor Piazzolla and Pat Metheny.
Composer and saxophonist Timo Lassy is one of Finland’s best-known jazz musicians with a strong international career. Lassy first came to the public’s attention as a member of The Five Corners Quintet, and he has since performed at some of Finland’s most prestigious venues and released several albums.
The other half of the duo, Niko Kumpuvaara , is a versatile and innovative accordionist who has performed both contemporary classical and popular music. He has premiered works by Finnish composers and has played with acts such as the Dallapé orchestra and the Comics in Concert ensemble, which combines comic art and music.

Eero Savela and Kadi Vija, along with their bands, are performing at Kanneltalo as part of the Jazz in Finland 100 centenary celebrations.
Kadi Vijaa and Eero Savela share an open-minded approach to their respective instruments, as well as a desire to explore new forms of expression through improvisation and composition. Their music embodies both delicate beauty and bold exploration – a quest to rediscover one’s own voice time and again.
The concert fits naturally into the hundred-year history of jazz in Finland. The same curiosity and quest for something new that made jazz so fascinating in its day are still very much present today. This evening is one of the concerts celebrating the centenary, in which that spirit of constant renewal is reflected through the work of two distinctive artists.
Eero Savela Quartet performs the music of trumpeter and composer Eero Savela, in which the compositions play a central role, providing a starting point for collective improvisation. The songs’ clear melodies provide something to latch onto, but the band’s aim is to break free, listen and take their music in freer directions.

World music legend Piirpauke is performing at Kanneltalo.
Undoubtedly one of the most popular Finnish instrumental bands of all time, Piirpauke has, over the years, explored the musical traditions of many different cultures with an open mind, including genres such as, nuevo flamenco, mbalax, jazz, progressive rock, música llanera, and Romanian and Turkish music. In the spirit of Piirpauke’s latest album, Lumo , the concert at Kanneltalo features compositions by Jean Sibelius, Oskari Merikanto, Toivo Kuula, Selim Palmgren and Yrjö Kilpinen, among others.
The debut album of the band founded at Pori Jazz in 1975 has sold more copies than any other long play album released in Finland featuring only instrumental music. Widely acclaimed and regarded as one of the most significant names in its genre, Piirpauke has, during its distinguished career, played hundreds of concerts around the world and shared the stage with top names such as Miles Davis, Ravi Shankar, Astor Piazzolla and Nirvana.

One of the most prestigious street dance groups in Finland, Will Funk For Food (WFFF), brings to Kanneltalo Finland’s first full-length performance based on the street dance style locking.
The work is inspired by the hypermasculinity and toxic machismo of western films and the genre's cavalcade of characters. A Fistful of Funk revolves around locking from which it begins to weave connections to the world of contemporary dance theatre.
The performance dives head-first into one of the main elements of locking dance: character. Ultimately, character is the distinctive feature that separates dancers from each other and contributes to the uniqueness of their individual styles.
The group seeks to dismantle the masculinity familiar from westerns and explore what masculinity and masculine encounters can be instead. In addition to exploring the themes of friendship and brotherhood, the performance uses the western setting as a platform for playful street dance duels, known as battles in street dance culture.
Locking, which was originally danced to funk music, was created by African Americans living on the West Coast of the United States in the 1970s. Locking is characterised by precise, sharp pauses and acrobatic tricks, combined with the grooving 'party steps' of the West Coast social dances.

Tuula and Pirkko are a pair of red-blooded ladies from Ala-Vittula, with a combined age of around 170 years.
They do not really like each other, but for some unknown reason they have spent their entire lives very closely together. Unlike what you might think about most elderly people, age has done nothing to calm them down. Quite the opposite in fact. Tuula loves Cindy Crawford and social distancing, while Pirkko does not think much of her grandchildren’s pottery or drawings, nor is she still any good at baking. Tuula and Pirkko were left to their own devices during the COVID-19 lockdown quite some time ago because of their difficult personalities, and so they have all the time in the world to live their lives exactly as they please.
After a series of twists and turns, Tuula and Pirkko decide to dust off their suitcases, haul their ageing behinds to the Finavia ticket counter, pay their airport tax – perhaps for the very last time – and set off for the sunny coast of Fuengirola. Before long, they have perhaps the most important conversations of their lives in the shade of the Toro. On this journey, both the entrenched attitudes of Tuula and Pirko’s daughters towards their mothers and the patriarchal macho culture are given a good shaking up. Will the ladies find romance, a luxury yacht or Sean Connery’s chest hair on the shores of Fuengirola?

Ilta Rivieralla Olavi Paavolaisen kanssa vie katsojat Välimeren lämpöön yhdistäen runoutta, musiikkia, draamallisia kohtauksia ja kulttuurihistoriaa.
Kertoja ( Anna Kortelainen ) johdattaa yleisön tarinaan. Esityksessä koetaan Olavi Paavolaisen ( Joel Mäkinen ) lennokkaat kirjeet ja hurmioituneet runot, joita elävöittävät tarinat ja lumoava ranskalainen musiikki. Draamallisia kohtauksia on rakennettu fiktiivisen pensionaatin pitäjän ( Reetta Ristimäki ) ja Paavolaisen välille.
Musiikki on koottu vuosisadan alun taidemusiikista ja aikakauden hittibiiseistä (mm. Poulenc, Debussy, Fauré, Maurice Chevalier). Joel Mäkinen on säveltänyt lisäksi musiikkia Paavolaisen runoihin.
Nuori dandy Paavolainen matkusti Nizzaan 1927. Hän lähetti ystävilleen vuoroin rehvakkaita, vuoroin rehellisiä kirjeitä ja jahtasi väkevää tunnetta nykyajasta. Matkalla syntyivät Nykyaikaa etsimässä -teoksen esseet. Paavolainen löysi nykyajan kirpeän suloisen ihanuuden Ranskan Rivieralta.

The long history of coexistence between rats and humans is no coincidence, but rather a consequence of the ability of the species to colonise areas that we have modified.
When we view the rat as a city dweller, we simultaneously perceive the city as its habitat.
In this lecture, we take a closer look at the rat’s success both around the world and in modern-day Helsinki. We hear about research findings on how rats move about in urban environments and why their numbers vary from one area to another. What do the habits of this resourceful neighbour tell us about ourselves?
Lecture given in Finnish by MA and Biologist Santtu Pentikäinen.

Mirjami Lehto, 94, carried out her life’s work as a teacher in Tervola. She has written a large number of poems, of which the Tervola Group now presents a collection of 50 poems.
Mirjami’s poetry focuses on the Arctic nature, everyday life and its moments of happiness, and, of course, love. Her poems about marginalised young people who have been left behind are especially touching. She got to know these young people when working as a special education teacher during the final years of her career. The poems also deal with themes such as ageing and even eventual death. However, she describes these subjects with hilarious irony.
Markus Fagerudd has set a few of her poems to songs.
The performers are the Tervola Group, comprising Eila Halonen, Markku Huhtamo, Juhani Laitala, Juha Mäntylä, Marja Pesonen and Timo Pylkkänen.

Tango del norte are a band who enchant the audience with their playing and win them over with their humour.
The Finnish ensemble Tango del norte is an international award-winning top tango band whose journey began in 2011 with the music of Astor Piazzolla. The musicians have studied tango under the best musicians in Argentina for 15 years now. The result of this is a fine-tuned sound, enchanting the audience and garnering praise time after time.
In 2026, Tango del norte are embarking on a concert tour celebrating their 15-year journey. The programme features both brand-new arrangements and familiar old hits, ranging from traditional Argentine and Finnish tango classics to the music of Astor Piazzolla.
Over the years, Tango del norte have worked with a number of leading musicians and vocalists in Finnish and international tango. In 2016, Tango del norte released their CD Raíces de pasión together with Argentinian singer Romina Bianco, and in 2018, they released the critically acclaimed duo record Solos & Duos . In 2025, the band released their third album, Argentiinalaisittain . In October 2025, the new album was also released in Argentina with a few-concert tour.
Tango del norte have played more than 300 concerts all around Finland and performed on concert stages, at clubs and at tango festivals across Europe and in Argentina. When forced displacement takes away not only your home, but also your language, religion and culture. Interview conducted by PhD and literature researcher Hanna Karhu.
Yönistujat (Gummerus 2025) is Riko Saatsi’s latest work. Tatjana, the grandmother of an evacuee family, is on her deathbed, and her sensitive grandson Lasari finds himself possessed by visions. When Granny passes away, Nasti, the mother of the family, begins to make preparations for a wake. Her husband insists that everything is done properly. A coffin must be made, and relatives and neighbours must be invited to keep vigil over the body. Saatsi’s first novel is a powerful story about a displaced family from Border Karelia who, in 1950s’ Finland, are shamed for their language and religion. It depicts the power of a mother’s love as Nasti tries to pave the way for her children’s future.
Riko Saatsi is a writer and theatre director from Lieksa. He studied philosophy at the University of Helsinki and directing at the Theatre Academy. Alongside his artistic work, he is a lecturer in directing at Uniarts Helsinki. His debut work Hyviä aikomuksia was published in 2021, and his first novel, Yönistujat , was published in 2025.

This community art project draws parallels between the experiences of refugees and evacuees: what is it like to be forced to leave your home and build a new life in a new place?
The departure comes as a surprise, the journey is difficult, you may face discrimination in your new surroundings, and homesickness gnaws at you. But then you settle in.
The project involved interviews with Karelian evacuees and refugees, as well as their descendants. The interviewees also included immigrants who did not arrive here as refugees but are also unable to return home due to war or conflict.
The exhibition showcases the participants’ stories in the form of works combining text and images, created by using a variety of techniques. Some of the participants also contributed to the works by sewing or embroidering. To counterbalance these harrowing stories, the exhibition features familiar and comforting household objects and textiles.
The majority of Finnish people live in apartment buildings. For this reason, the exhibition space resembles the corridor of an apartment building, with access to the various themes of the exhibition via apartment doors. What sort of stories lie hidden behind those doors? The exhibition also includes the work Missä juuresi ovat (‘Where Are Your Roots’), in which the audience can take part.

Come and listen to Rajaton’s beloved songs and songs about love!
In this concert brimming with love, the Rajaton vocal ensemble performs some of their most beloved songs. The concert brings together the band’s favourite songs and pieces from their career spanning almost 30 years, with which the members of Rajaton have a special connection. The audience has also had a chance to influence the concert programme, and Rajaton has included some favourites that have been voted for by the audience. The theme of the concert – love and friendship – is reflected in many ways, both in the programme content and the atmosphere of the concert.
A crown jewel of Finnish a cappella music, the vocal ensemble Rajaton is renowned for its skilful arrangements, distinctive sound and musical virtuosity. The group regularly performs abroad and has established a solid reputation on international concert stages.

Sattuma Duo (Arto ja Eila Rinne) tuo lavalle sukupolvien yli kulkevaa kansanmusiikkia karjalan murteilla ja suomeksi. Duo on osa jo v. 2003 Petroskoissa perustettua Sattuma-yhtyettä, ja sen ohjelmistossa on poimintoja yhtyeen laajasta repertuaarista.
Duo Casten & Rinne feat. Artemius puolestaan esittää karjalaista, inkeriläistä ja suomenkielistä kansanmusiikkia, jonka juuret ulottuvat Itä-Karjalaan. Nina Castén tunnetaan tummaäänisestä ja vivahteikkaasta tulkinnastaan, viulisti Artemiuksen tuodessa kokonaisuuteen virtuoottista energiaa.

Welcome Day offers new residents of Finland a warm welcome to Helsinki! All Kannelmäki residents are invited to join the celebrations.
At the event, we give locals an opportunity to explore Cultural Centre Kanneltalo, as well as other services, hobbies and leisure activities available in their own residential area.
During Welcome Day, you can enjoy music and take part in fun workshops. City services and associations organising leisure time activities present their operations and are available to answer any and all of your questions.
The programme takes place in various facilities at Kanneltalo – from the café to the library – and the day culminates in a concert by Grande Mahogany in the Theatre and Concert Hall.
At Welcome Day, we speak English. The event is free of charge and no registration is required.

Dance, music, acrobatics and theatre blend together to illustrate just how frightening and uncertain life can be without the security of a home and friends.
What happens to three friends whose lives have become stuck at home? They have grand visions of the future, but the sense of security provided by home and concerns about changes in life keep them firmly glued to the sofa at home.
Dreams, fears and impatience are constantly churning away in the back of the minds of these friends who are cooped up at home. Time slips by and drags on, and the home, the furniture, the dreams and the residents are rearranged time and again, and there always seems to be something better to do than face the future. They really ought to get out some time, but they just cannot seem to manage it.
The main themes of the performance are reaching adulthood and uncertainty about the future, and it is aimed specifically at teenagers and young adults. The work combines dance, circus, live music and theatre.
The performance features dancer and choreographer Oskari Turpeinen, dancer Mikko Makkonen and musician Eetu Hölttä. The creative team also includes sound designer Josu Mämmi, lighting designer Lauri Hietanen, dancer Iiro Näkki and choreography assistant Sanni Giordani.

Two generations have already followed Simo’s long and successful career as a magician, and things just keep getting better!
On their anniversary tour, Simo and his assistant and wife Kirsti present high-quality, cheerful and astonishing magic, tailored to suit the whole family and audiences of all ages. The show combines classic magic, visual effects and audience participation to create a spectacular experience. And, of course, some lovely animal friends are along for the ride!
Children’s help is needed for the tricks, as usual, and this time adults will also be brought in to assist the magician.

Join us for some instructed exercise in the Kanneltalo gallery and the library’s Tempo multi-purpose room.
Our autumn programme includes activities such as improving our flexibility through stretching, adding more activity to our day by immersing ourselves in the world of traditional games, enjoying public art near Kanneltalo while Nordic walking, and strengthening our muscles with resistance band exercises. This autumn, musicians from the Finnish Baroque Orchestra (FiBO) will also visit the art exercise sessions.
Bring your own exercise mat and let art get you moving!
You can take part in the art exercise sessions with a regional exercise pass . A single pass costs €30 and is loaded onto your ‘Helsinki liikkuu’ customer card, which costs €4. In the Shelter of the Forest is a multi-sensory exhibition and event that invites you to reflect on the future of the forest through art, science and participation.
In the Shelter of the Forest is a living and multi-sensory exhibition that combines visual art, sound, movement and participatory experiences. The exhibition invites you to reflect on the values and meanings of the forest, and to examine your own relationship with the forest from different perspectives. The project is the culmination of the two-year Metsäkissa2044 project funded by the Kone Foundation.
Visual artist and biologist Susu Rytteri builds a monumental work entitled Utopia metsästä (‘Utopia of a Forest’) in the Kanneltalo gallery, in which a swarm of lightweight black-veined white butterflies fly through a background plastered with clay. The work
will be accompanied by a series of 100 drawings entitled Elämän puu (‘The Tree of Life’) and moving images.
Musician Katja Luhtala creates an audio piece for the exhibition entitled Metsän kieli (‘Language of the Forest‘), building a mystical and multidimensional forest atmosphere.
The audience will have an opportunity to experience the atmosphere of the forest from the point of view of its creatures and organisms, and take part in workshops and discussions. Uskomaton taikashow (‘The Incredible Magic Show’), aimed at the whole family, is the latest product of the collaboration between magician Aatu Itkonen and mentalist Jari Hynynen.

Pianist Iiro Rantala and actress Lotta Kuusisto’s ‘annual rings’ are flexible stories about the cycle of life.
They are powerfully spiral stories about being human, interpretations of where we belong and how we do not belong. Wishes about not everything being vague and varying, and about being like a juniper; with no tendency to split or twist.

This performance brings together solos by young flamenco dancers and seasoned veterans, as well as excerpts from Criaturas, a new-generation contemporary flamenco piece.
Proyecciones sets its course from the traditions of flamenco towards the future.
Solos from young talents and seasoned veterans
The tradition of flamenco is reflected in this collection of solos with nuance and a rich colour palette. The stage features young flamenco dancers, many of whom are making their debut as soloists, alongside more experienced dancers. The solos are built around elements of traditional flamenco, spiced up with different flavours. Alongside the dancers, a host of talented musicians are there to interpret various styles of flamenco.
The evening is dedicated to dance artist Laura Rintamäki – a much-loved and highly regarded figure who has had a major influence on Finnish flamenco and is a true driving force behind the art form. Some of the solos were created as part of a solo project launched jointly by Rintamäki and Laura Vilhonen, in which ambitious dancers were given an opportunity to develop solos and challenge themselves under the guidance of different choreographers. Vilhonen is now putting the finishing touches to the project, and the solos are set to be performed in front of an audience for the first time.
Some of the solos were choreographed by flamenco dancers Minna Saalpo and Camila Laine.

Global Club Nights is a series of club events where people who work in the music industry and those who love music come together to celebrate music.
At Kanneltalo, these club events are held on two evenings in autumn 2026. The first club night on 2 October features Humphrey Mubba and Trio Mandeng on the stage. The second club night will take place on World Children's Day, 20 November.
The free club nights start early, which means children are also welcome when accompanied by an adult. In addition to captivating music, the club nights also provide other fun activities that are suitable for children. Let us kick off the weekend together!
Humphrey Mubba is a Tanzanian jazz bassist, composer and teacher who lives in Finland. His parents are originally from the Kilimanjaro region of Tanzania, where he grew up in a multicultural family. His music combines deep African roots with international jazz influences. In the resulting sound, Tanzanian and African rhythms blend with the freedom of jazz improvisation, creating energetic, movement-inspiring music in which dance and music are inseparable.
Influenced by artists such as Richard Bona, Etienne Mbappé and Hugh Masekela, Mubba has toured internationally and performed at festivals such as Sauti za Busara and the BC International Jazz Festival. His debut album, Time , is available on all the major streaming services.

Start your week off with high energy! Jussu Pöyhönen takes to the stage as a soloist at the Juurilla Club event in the Kanneltalo Theatre and Concert Hall.
Jussu Pöyhönen is a singer and songwriter best known for his 30-year career as the frontman of the band Suurlähettiläät. He has also released several solo albums, composed theatre music and performed in a theatre.
Jussu last appeared on stage at Kanneltalo in February in the theatrical clown musical Täydellinen musikaali – matka manalaan , for which he also composed the music. At the Juurilla Club event, he gets to perform music by his favourite artists, such as Leonard Cohen, Tom Waits and JJ Cale, as well as tracks from his own English-language album Bel Vel (2013).
The last time Jussu appeared as a guest at the Juurilla Club was during the pandemic, due to which the gig was streamed online. We have now decided to give Jussi and the audience at Kanneltalo a chance to meet in person!
The beating heart of the beloved Monday evening Juurilla Club consists of jazz, blues, country, folk, rhythm and blues, bluegrass and Americana roots music.

WHAT IS LOVE is a dance-based exploration of the concept of love in ancient times; an examination of the nature and essence of love.
What is it all about when we love and fall in love? What is the aim? What happens inside the person? How does it feel? Who and what is Eros? What is desire?
Love is a concept that has been trivialised, over-sweetened and devalued, making it easy to sell just about anything in its name. This work seeks to capture the philosophical dimension of love. Why is love a primal force, and what might be its foundation and ultimate goal?
The language of the performance is dance, movement, music, song, sound, speech and silence.

The Funky Fossils Collective’s 10th-anniversary celebration features choreographies created for the group and collaborative productions from over the years, as well as a new anniversary choreography.
The Funky Fossils Collective celebrates the diversity of dance and invites people of all ages to come and dance and be inspired at a new kind of dance event: It is never too late to start!
Funky Fossils emerged out of dance classes run by dancer and choreographer Njara Rasolomanana in 2016. Since then, the hip-hop group has performed at his dance school’s shows at various events. In recent years, the group’s season has culminated in a Christmas show at Dance House Helsinki.
In 2024, the Funky Fossils Crew became an independent collective operating as a network of adult hip-hop dance enthusiasts. Its aim is to enable as many street dance enthusiasts as possible to dance, become part of the community and create projects that reflect their own personalities.
The titular fossils are born out of fusions of different dance styles, and the group has combined hip-hop with genres such as Afro dance, folk dance and jazz dance, under the guidance of choreographers. The movement language of the dancers in the Fossil group shows influences from various styles of hip-hop: breakdancing, locking, house and popping. Peesi on 12 tapaamisen vertaistukiryhmä eläkeläisille, joiden läheisellä on päihdeongelma. Ryhmässä vaihdetaan ajatuksia omasta elämäntilanteesta ja tehdään tueksi tehtäviä mm. myönteisestä kommunikaatiosta, rajojen asettamisesta ja oman elämänlaadun lisäämisestä. Ryhmä perustuu vertaistukeen avoimessa, rennossa ja luottamuksellisessa ilmapiirissä sekä kognitiivisiin menetelmiin.

Terveellinen, monipuolinen ja riittävä ravinto tukee sekä kehoa että mieltä. Mielen hyvinvointiin vaikuttavat ravinto, uni, liikunta, sosiaaliset suhteet, arjen rytmi, palautuminen ja mielekäs tekeminen. A dystopian journey towards a lost culture. RapuRequiem (‘Crab Requiem’) is a performance that combines spoken theatre and contemporary circus.
This absurd, poetic and physical work delves into an analysis of the modern world and modern humanity through dystopian sci-fi. What if almost everything were to be destroyed, and the remaining Western cultural history were to depend on a single mobile phone and a group of performance artists suffering from a memory disorder?
The artists who survived the disaster can only recall fragments of the time before the collapse. One of these is the pervasive influence of social media; another is the fanatical and absurd torrent of rhetoric spouted by increasingly deranged leaders; and the third is people’s indifference to the increasing ecological and human devastation. On the one hand, the private and collective memories are characterised by material abundance and, on the other hand, by gnawing loneliness, increasing inequality, a lack of global solidarity and the fear of nuclear weapons.
The group’s grand mission is to preserve what little remains of the history of Finnish art. The art club takes place on Fridays from 28 August to 18 December at 12.30–14.30 in the Tempo room of the library.
The art club is aimed at primary school children, but younger children are also welcome if accompanied by an adult. In the club, you get to explore various visual art techniques under the guidance of a teacher. No advance registration is required.
The art club is taught by visual artist Karo Tapiovaara.

The multi-award-winning director Aleksi Salmenperä (A Man’s Job, The Mine, Void) returns with Father’s Day, an honest tragicomedy about surviving life’s many challenges.
In the film, Veikko (Tommi Korpela) helps his friend Tinke (Tomi Lindfors) navigate daily life in a residential care home. Tinke has drunk his health away, and his life is held together by humour drawn from its grim side. When the teenage daughters (Vilja and Varpu Rintanen) of a former groupie (Laura Birn) set out to discover who their father is, the trail leads to Tinke. Saimi intends to prevent the twins from meeting Tinke, but Veikko, who gets drawn into the mess, thinks otherwise.

¡Ya Voy! is the magic of a meeting between traditional Colombian music and improvised music. It is the story of four musicians who travel.
¡Ya Voy! sings its utopia and creates a colorful, ever-moving imaginary folklore.
Alejandra Charry and Moises Zamora Mesù grew up together in the village of Cabuyal Candelaria, in western Colombia, in the Valle del Cauca region. Charry arrived in France in 2004 with her voice and her cello, while Moises still lives in Colombia with his marimba and multiple instruments. On the other side of the continents, Sakina Abdou and Thibault Cellier have crossed paths on European jazz and improvised music stages for over a decade without ever having had the chance to play together.
On one side, traditional Colombian music with its lilting triple meter, its hymns celebrating freedom, its tradition of voice and percussion, dance and trance, and its social, ritualized relationship to music. On the other, jazz and improvised music with their sense of freedom, commitment, the appropriation of traditions, and the celebration of the moment. The richness of sharing this diversity lies at the heart of this music, which carries strong cultural legacies. At the intersection of this encounter emerges a free music—one that lets the heart go wherever it must.

Global Club Nights (GCN) is a club series where people who work with and love music come together to celebrate music.
The free club nights start early, so children are welcome when accompanied by an adult. In addition to exciting music, the club also offers other fun activities suitable for children. Let's start the weekend together!
Kanneltalo will host the club on two evenings during the autumn of 2026. The first club night on 2nd October will feature Humphrey Mubba and Trio Mandeng. The second club night will take place on 20th November during Children’s Rights Week with artists Tell Your Birds ja Manu Rosales.
Manu Rosales is a composer, guitarist, and singer from Buenos Aires, Argentina. His music is deeply rooted in the song composition traditions of Buenos Aires, reflecting the multitude of influences that orbit within that diverse and cosmopolitan city. Volver Siguiendo (Return in Continuation) reveals a concert that consider both tradition and identity as an alive unfinished process – blending it with everything that orbits around this new territory and the astounding musicians who will take part in the performance.

Science dances the samba and imagination runs wild in this musical theatre adventure about science questions from children!
The performance is an ode to a child's curiosity and ability to wonder and question. Why does an adult say that something looks good when they don't even look? Do fish snore? How can you know what is true?
Answers to these and other tricky questions are sought in a musical and fast-paced adventure that takes the viewer across the Atlantic on the wings of a social media bee, revealing the secret conversations of the trees and leading the travellers into the wild jungle of misinformation. When little reporters Solmu and Silmu invade the Extreme Knowledge Conference (Äärimmäisen tiedon konferenssi), chaos ensues as science meets imagination and facts dance the samba.
Dinosauruksen hikka vai mehiläisen kakka? – 33 kutkuttavaa lasten tiedekysymystä – is based on a Helsingin Sanomat column and the books edited based on it: Ovatko kaikki esineet joskus olleet märkiä? (2015), Tietääkö karhu että se on karhu? (2018) ja Miksi linnut heräävät niin aikaisin? (2020). Tranceformer is the third instalment of a trilogy that uses hypnosis to examine the cognitive effects of new technologies.
For the piece, artist Aapo Nikkanen has trained his own AI — Tranceformer — capable of guiding the audience into hypnotic trance. Rather than relying on spectacle, the work operates through subtle shifts in attention that draw focus away from the stage and into the inner worlds of the audience.
The performance unfolds through a conversation between the AI and the performer, allowing the audience to move through different levels of trance. At the same time, it stages a new kind of interactive space, in which passive algorithmic feeds give way to personalised, dialogic exchanges that are human in tone and emotionally responsive.
Tranceformer asks what happens when contemporary systems increasingly operate at the level of cognition: how they shape the ways we interpret, trust, and respond to the world, often bypassing critical reflection, and at what point their influence becomes difficult to distinguish from our own thoughts.
The creation of Tranceformer has been made possible through the generous support of Baltic Circle, Kone Foundation, and FCINY & Pioneer Works.
The themes and methods of the performance deal with the liminal spaces of human psyche and consciousness using, for instance, hypnosis and trance, and as such may be distressing for some audiences.
